Ready to Learn

What does a day look like?

 Arrival

Teacher welcomes each child as they arrive to school. After they hang up their coats and backpack, they sign in and complete activities that are put out for them to work on while we wait for

the rest of the class to arrive.

Circle time

We gather on the carpet, sing our welcome song, learning each

of our names, using movement. We learn how to read a calendar, discuss the monthly theme through games and books. Practice math concepts and other skills that support kindergarten readiness.

Snack

This is a time for students to chat with classmates, try new foods, and learn viable manners when eating.

Centers

An important part of our day is activity centers. Children can choose how they spend this time. Each center focuses on different skills and they work with their peers as they experiment with crafts, play with blocks, engage in dramatic play, work on puzzles and other planned activities.

Outdoor Exploration

It's time to go outside! We have a few areas that we spend our outside time at. In the forest, children choose to play independently or as a group in our forest clubhouse, outdoor mud kitchen, climbing low branch trees or collecting grasshoppers and leaves with our bug collectors kits. On the farm, we feed and pet the goats and chickens, check for eggs and watch the animals eat and play.

Group Time

We finish our day with a book, song or game to help us learn more about the topic or theme we are learning about.

Pick up

Children will gather their belongings and line up to be brought outside, we say our goodbyes for parent pick up.
